I usually agree with him, although I think it is too early to sound the death knell of either the far-right agenda or fundie Christianity.<BR/><BR/>The one poll I saw simply indicated that Americans were less religious. Having grown up in and lived in the Bible Belt all my life, the retraction of religion is a good thing to me since I see it as a primary source for heterosexism/homophobia, sexism, and racism.<BR/><BR/>However, I think it is a leap to believe that fundamentalism is contracting, as Besen seems to think. I have seen polls that indicate that so-called mainline churches are losing members, while more fundamentalist churches are actually growing.<BR/><BR/>I know it is anecdotal, but I look at the Woodstock First Baptist.
